In a May 3, 2012, email, the State Department denied a request by a group of Special Forces assigned to protect the U.S. embassy in Libya to continue their use of a DC- 3 airplane for security operations throughout the country.

The subject line of the email, on which slain Ambassador Chris Stevens was copied, read: “Termination of Tripoli DC-3 Support.”

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) will host an Academies Night to highlight the opportunities available for high school graduates to attend one of the U.S. military academies or ROTC programs. The open-house presentation will take place on Wednesday, October 10th in the Science and Technology Auditorium at Slippery Rock University.  Registration begins at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a formal program featuring each of the academies and Slippery Rock ROTC program.

Washington, DC — Yesterday, Aileen Magnotto, founder of Hermitage-based MagNoodles Smart Pasta, delivered more than 23,000 servings of her line of multi-grain, vegetable-based pasta to the Capital Area Food Bank in Washington, D.C. The event included a cooking class with PBS celebrity chef George Hirsch, who showed a group of 40 children how to make a healthy meal using MagNoodles Pasta and other ingredients available through the food bank.

NFIB President and CEO Dan Danner called Rep. Washington, D.C. —U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) offered an amendment to  H.R. 3409 that would require the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to submit a report to Congress estimating the economic impact of the Obama Administration’s latest Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard and how it would affect highway safety.

Specifically, Rep. Kelly’s amendment, which passed the House today by a vote of 242 to 168, would require DOT to calculate:

(1) the total number of jobs that will be lost due to decreased demand;
