The legislation also prohibits the Obama administration from granting states the ability to waive work requirements for welfare programs. Rep. Kelly is a member of the House Ways and Means subcommittee on Human Resources, which produced this bill.

WASHINGTON, DC — Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) issued the following statement today regarding the implementation of the first round of “sequestration” cuts to future federal spending set to begin today in accordance with the Budget Control Act of 2011 and the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. Rep. Kelly previously voted for two different pieces of legislation to replace the “sequester” with alternative spending cuts and reforms: the Sequester Replacement Reconciliation Act in May 2012 and the Spending Reduction Act in December 2012.

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, House Republican Leadership echoed U.S. Representative Mike Kelly's (PA-03) recent call to block the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from taking any further action as a Board until the matter surrounding last year's unconstitutional appointments of several of its members is resolved. In a letter sent to the NLRB yesterday, House leaders insisted the board cease all activity until members sufficient to meet a quorum are confirmed by the U.S. Senate or the U.S. Supreme Court rules on the constitutionality of the appointments.
