Western PA Communities to Receive CARES Act Grants through U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (R-Pa.) announced that Erie, Millcreek Township, and Sharon will receive CARES Act grant funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to assist in the fight against COVID-19 in western Pennsylvania.

"During this public health emergency, it is crucial that local communities have the resources they need to effectively protect the health and safety of their residents," said Kelly. "Thank you to the Trump Administration for acting swiftly and working with our office to allocate CARES Act grants where they are most needed in western Pennsylvania."

All three communities will receive flexible Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to combat the coronavirus according to local needs. Erie will receive an additional Emergency Shelter Grant  (ESG) to serve its homeless population during this pandemic.

Grant Allocations

  • Erie  will receive a $1,866,324.00 CDBG and a $931,503.00 ESG
  • Millcreek Township will receive a $153,527.00 CDBG
  • Sharon will receive a $347,520.00 CDBG
