Representative Mike Kelly Votes in Support of the JOBS Act

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) voted today in support of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act (H.R. 3606), which includes pro-jobs bills that were passed by the House but have since stalled in the Senate. The JOBS Act removes onerous federal regulations that limit America’s small businesses, startups and entrepreneurs from getting the capital they need to invest in their companies and grow and create jobs. According to the Kauffman Foundation, startups have created nearly 40 million jobs since 1980 and the Small Business Administration shows small businesses generate over 60 percent of new jobs in this country. H.R. 3606 has broad, bipartisan support, and is backed by the President’s Jobs Council, which said measures within the bill are essential to our global competitiveness, economic growth and job creation.

Rep. Kelly issued the following statement:

“For more than a year now, the House has championed legislation to strengthen our economy and get Americans back to work. While most of the more than 30 pro-jobs bills that we passed have been stuck in the Senate, today we were able to finally get the bipartisan support we need to move some of those bills through, which is a huge victory for the American people. The JOBS Act marks an all-too-rare occasion in Washington when politics and class warfare rhetoric are set aside and smart, commonsense, pro-growth solutions are put forward in the best interest of all Americans.”

H.R. 3606 passed the House by a vote of 390 to 23.
