New Castle’s Matthew Stroia leaving Capitol Hill after 17 years of federal service, Erie native Timothy Butler taking helm as new chief

Washington -  U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA) today announced that Lawrence County native Matthew Stroia, who has served as Kelly's chief of staff for nearly a decade, will depart Capitol Hill to begin a new role in the private sector. Timothy Butler, Kelly's Erie-based district director, will be promoted to chief of staff.

“Matthew’s exceptional service to our team, our district, and our great country cannot be overstated," said Kelly. “For the past decade, he has led our staff with wisdom and integrity, and I am excited to see where his new role takes him. While Matthew will be missed, I am proud to announce Tim Butler as our new chief of staff. Tim is a faithful, principled, and patriotic Erie native who is the perfect person for the job. I congratulate him on his well-earned promotion. Our team and district are in great hands.”

Both Stroia and Butler have served with Rep. Kelly since his first term began in 2011. Butler has held many roles since then, including scheduler, administrative director, district director, and now chief of staff. Stroia was Kelly's legislative director before his promotion to chief of staff one year later.  Stroia spent 17 years in public service including the Department of the Navy's Office of General Counsel and the U.S. House of Representatives.
