Kelly Statement on U.S. Plan to Withdraw from the WHO

Washington, D.C. - Today, President Donald Trump announced that the United States will sever its relationship with the World Health Organization. U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (R-Pa.) issued this statement applauding the president’s decision:

"The World Health Organization’s amplification of the Chinese government’s lies about the coronavirus led to countless preventable deaths across the globe. Whether WHO’s abetting of the communist regime was intentional or unwitting, it raises an important question: should Americans continue to send hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to support it? President Trump rightfully said no. His decision to end our relationship with WHO and re-purpose our funding contribution for other worldwide health initiatives is the right one."
