Washington, DC —U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) issued the following statement on his vote today in support of the National Strategic and Critical Minerals Production Act of 2012, which requires the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to more efficiently develop domestic sources of strategic and critical minerals and mineral materials. These minerals include rare earth elements that are used in the manufacturing of jet engines, aircraft armored vehicles, night-vision goggles, and other equipment essential to our national security.

Representative Mike Kelly Issues Statement on June Jobs Report
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) issued the following statement on the June jobs report released this morning, which showed that the unemployment rate remained at 8.2 percent:
Washington, D.C. -- Today, U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) sent a letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, regarding the Administration’s decision to join the negotiations for the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), which open today in New York. The letter, which was co-signed by 130 members of the House, expresses Rep. Kelly’s concerns that the U.N.’s actions to date indicate that the ATT is likely to pose significant threats to our national security, foreign policy, and economic interests as well as our constitutional rights.
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) voted today to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for withholding documents regarding Operation Fast and Furious, the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) failed gun-running program that has been linked to deaths in both Mexico and the United States, including the death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. The criminal contempt resolution passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 255-67.

“Today, the United States Supreme Court spoke. On November 6, the American people will have their chance to speak.
“If you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu. And I’ve got to tell you, job creators were put on the menu and they are getting eaten alive by a piece of legislation that drives their cost of operation up, mandates them to do something under penalty of law or pay a fine…"
“We are a nation of laws and a nation that believes nobody is above the law. That includes the Attorney General, and for him to take a pass on this and to continue to say we’ll just need to talk more…it’s time to stop talking. It’s time to fish or cut bait.”
