Representative Mike Kelly Votes in Support of the 25th House-Passed Bipartisan Jobs Bill Awaiting Senate Action

Washington, D.C. — Today, Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) voted in support of the Regulatory Accountability Act (H.R. 3010), which is the 25th piece of bipartisan legislation passed by the U.S. House of Representatives that will remove regulatory barriers to growth and spur job creation. All 25 jobs bills are awaiting action by the Senate.

“Our nation’s unemployment rate has been stuck above eight percent for 34 consecutive months, which is simply unacceptable,” said Rep. Kelly. “Today’s bill, along with the other 24 jobs bills stuck in the Senate, will help jump start our economy by getting Washington’s boot off the throat of the private sector, allowing small business owners the opportunity to create the jobs we need to get Americans back to work.”

H.R. 3010 amends the Administrative Procedure Act to require agencies to access the costs and benefits of regulatory alternatives and increase the transparency of the rulemaking process with more advance notices of proposed rulemaking, more opportunities for public comment and more opportunities for public hearings, which will lessen the influence of all special interests.

Yesterday, Rep. Kelly also voted in support of the Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act (H.R. 527), which amends the Regulatory Flexibility Act and the Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act to lower costs and limit federal overreach. H.R. 527 ensures that agencies will fully account for the effects of new regulations on small businesses before they adopt them and strengthens requirements that agencies review and improve existing regulations to lower the burden on small business.
