Rep. Mike Kelly statement on House passage of continuing resolution to avoid government shutdown

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) voted to pass a short-term spending bill that would fund the government and avoid a government shutdown. The 45-day funding bill, known as a continuing resolution (CR), also contains additional disaster relief funding and does not provide increased funding levels for military assistance to Ukraine.
"I'm encouraged to see Democrats join House Republicans to pass a clean, short-term spending bill to keep the government open and avoid a shutdown. To me, this is not a red issue or a blue issue. This is a red, white, and blue issue," Rep. Kelly said. "In negotiations like this, no deal is perfect. But shutting down the government should be a last resort. I'm grateful to colleagues on both sides of the aisle for joining me to get this bill over the finish line."
The CR passed the House 335-91. It now advances to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
On Friday, Rep. Kelly spoke on the House floor outlining just what is at stake in these budget negotiations and impact that runaway government spending will have on future generations. You can download clips below.
