Kelly hosts annual School Safety Seminar in Greenville

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Last Friday, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) hosted his annual School Safety Seminar at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa. The Seminar brings school officials together with law enforcement to discuss ways schools within Pennsylvania's 16th Congressional District can be fortified from both outside and inside threats, along with developing security and emergency response plans.
Experts from the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Administration joined Rep. Kelly to help answer questions. More than 70 school district officials, parents, and other leaders registered to attend the event.
"Young people are 25% of our population, but they are 100% of our future," Kelly said. "This annual event offers local leaders the chance to learn important skills and information to keep our schools safe and secure. I appreciate school officials, especially our local school board members, for attending this seminar."
The event was open to all responsible for school safety, including administrators, guidance counselors, law enforcement, safety professionals, school board members and more. From preventive and protective measures to response and recovery tactics, the seminar covered a comprehensive list of topics relevant to the challenges our schools face.
