During "Energy Week," Kelly backs "Protecting American Energy Production Act"

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- This week, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) voted in favor of the “Protecting American Energy Production Act," legislation which prohibits the President from declaring a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing.
The vote follows President Joe Biden's de facto ban on American liquified natural gas (LNG) exports earlier this year. Pennsylvania is the second-largest natural gas producing state in the United States, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
"Since day one in office, President Biden has waged war on American energy," said Rep. Kelly. "The President should not have unilateral authority to shut down an entire sector of the energy industry, especially one on which millions of Americans rely every day. These decisions are often politically motivated, but they have real-world impacts that could lead to job losses and higher energy prices. I firmly believe energy security is national security. This vote takes a critical next step to giving the American people their voice back."
In 2023, the United States became the world's leading LNG exporter.
In Pennsylvania, 423,000 jobs are supported by the natural gas industry.
