U.S. Representative MikeKelly Receives Guardian of Seniors’ Rights
Washington, D.C. — This week, U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) received the Guardian of Seniors’ Rights award from the 60 Plus Association, a national non-partisan organization, in recognition of Representative Kelly’s efforts to protect Medicare and Social Security for current beneficiaries and for future generations. For 19 years, 60 Plus has presented Guardian awards to both Democrats and Republicans, honoring lawmakers who defend and promote the interests of seniors.
At an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin cited Representative Kelly for “his commitment to look out for America's greatest generation,” adding that, “it’s Members of Congress like Mike Kelly who show caring concern towards our senior population, the very ones who have sacrificed all these years and who now face uncertain retirements due to the impending bankruptcy of their entitlement programs.”
Representative Kelly, who turned 63 this week and who is the oldest member of the freshman class in the House of Representatives, issued the following statement:
“I am honored to receive this award from a group that recognizes the incredible sacrifices that this generation of seniors has made to build, protect, and defend our nation. We owe our seniors a debt of gratitude—they have never failed our nation and we will never fail them.”
