Representative Mike Kelly Joins Fourth of July Celebrations in Millcreek Township and Lawrence Park Washington, D.C. —In celebration of the Fourth of July, U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) will participate in the Millcreek Township parade this morning, as well as the Lawrence Park Fourth of July celebration this afternoon. Rep. Kelly will spend the remainder of Independence Day with his family in Butler. Rep. Kelly released the following statement: “Thomas Jefferson once said, ‘If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.’ "Today, as we commemorate America’s founding with festivities and fireworks, let us remember the great sacrifices with which our freedom was won, and the responsibility we all hold to maintain the principles by which our freedom endures. “As the Declaration of Independence reads, governments are instituted among men to secure the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness bestowed to us by our Creator. “Just as we are grateful for these rights, so too must we guard them, ever-mindful of our role in preserving this great nation for generations to come in honor of those sacrifices made by generations past.” “May God continue to bless America and all those who protect and defend Her." ###
