Rep. Mike Kelly participates in 49th Annual March for Life
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) participated 49th annual March for Life held in Washington, D.C.
"I was proud to join pro-life supporters who were able to travel to Washington for this year's March," Kelly said. "We must continue our efforts to protect the unborn both at home and in the halls of Congress. Being pro-life should not be a partisan issue. To me, life begins at conception. I believe the pro-life movement is not just about protecting life. It's also about promoting strong families."
BACKGROUND
The 49th annual March for Life was held Friday in Washington, D.C. The event raises awareness of the pro-life movement and aims to support and protect both women and the unborn. The March returned in-person this year after it was moved online in 2021.
Rep. Kelly has supported several key pro-life bills in recent years, including the Heartbeat Protection Act, which would which would prohibit abortions when an unborn child’s heartbeat is detected. You can learn more about that bill here.
Kelly has also led a series of inquiries calling for transparency and accountability into the National Institutes of Health (N.I.H.) after recent allegations that the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center used taxpayer money funneled through the N.I.H. to promote illegal abortions.
