Rep. Kelly Votes to Create Jobs & Lower Energy Costs
WASHINGTON — Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA) issued the following statement today in support of H.R. 1965, the Federal Lands Jobs and Energy Security Act, and H.R. 2728, the Protecting States’ Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act, the latter of which Rep. Kelly is a co-sponsor. H.R. 1965 would protect and expand onshore American energy production and create new American jobs by streamlining government regulations. H.R. 2728 would prohibit the Interior Department from enforcing federal hydraulic fracturing regulations in any state that already has regulations and recognizes states’ authority to regulate this type of activity. Both bills were passed by the House of Representatives today with bipartisan support.
“America is absolutely blessed with the greatest natural energy resources in the world. Today’s bills will help pave swifter pathways to maximum energy production with less government interference, which will result in more jobs for Americans and lower costs for families when it comes to keeping their cars running and their homes heated.
“By every measurement, our country could and should be experiencing an energy renaissance right now, but we’re not. The most notorious roadblocks to fulfilling our energy potential remain costly and misguided rules and legal trappings imposed by Washington that ignore the needs of hardworking Americans for affordable and accessible energy. Today’s legislation establishes a more efficient process for greater energy production while defending the self-determination of states like Pennsylvania to help lead our nation to a prosperous, energy independent future.”
