Rep. Kelly Thanks Constituents for Participating in Tele-Town Hall Meeting on Taxes

March 7, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC — Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) – a member of the House Ways and Means committee – issued the following statement today thanking his constituents for participating in a telephone town hall meeting yesterday evening on the basics of filing income taxes. A total of 19,567 constituents joined the call, which featured a tax expert from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) who assisted with answering callers’ questions.

“I’d like to extend an enormous ‘thank you’ to everyone in Western Pennsylvania who took time to join last night’s tele-town hall meeting. I know full well that filing income taxes can be extremely confusing and that getting answers can be beyond frustrating. It simply shouldn’t be this way. I hope last night’s call helped clear some of the fog and made this year’s tax season a bit easier for everyone involved.

“Whether it’s assisting my constituents with getting answers from a federal agency or fighting for pro-growth tax reform to create jobs and revive our economy, my job begins and ends with the people of Pennsylvania’s Third District. This tele-town hall meeting was just one way that my staff and I are happy to serve them.”

Note: Constituents who were unable to ask questions during the tele-town hall are encouraged to call the IRS’s toll free telephone number at 1-800-829-1040 or visit its website at www.IRS.gov. Constituents may also direct their questions to one of Representative Kelly’s district offices:
