Rep. Kelly Responds to State of the Union on Fox News’ “Hannity”

WASHINGTON — Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA) – a member of the House Way and Means Committee – appeared on “Hannity” on Fox News Channel last night as part of host Sean Hannity’s “Capitol Hill Focus Group” with other members of Congress in response to President Obama’s State of the Union address.
Rep. Kelly’s response:
“I think [the American people] can follow the same example the president sets: he says, ‘I’ve got a phone and a pen’ — I think people need to get on their phones and start writing letters. … I want the president to use that phone to call Harry Reid and say, ‘Hey Harry, we’ve got some 40 [House-passed] jobs bills sitting on your desk. Let’s move them. Debate them, amendment them, and get them back to me.’ And I guarantee you he would get writer’s cramp in his left arm signing all of that legislation and putting it into law.”
“The president’s going to be in Pittsburgh today. He’s going to be in the Steel City talking with people at U.S. Steel, men and women at U.S. Steel. He’s going to be talking and walking with the same people that I walk with and talk with every day when I come out of mass or come out of K-Mart. He has to listen to what the people have to say. … This is a government that’s supposed to serve the people.”
Sean Hannity [in reference to President Obama’s 2008 remarks]: “That’s where those bitter people who cling to their guns, Bibles, and religion.”
Rep. Kelly: “And thank God we do!”
