Representative Mike Kelly Issues Statement on 9/11 Anniversary

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) issued the following statement on the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks:

“Eleven years ago today, thousands of Americans were brutally murdered in one of the greatest attacks on American soil in our nation’s history. Their lives were tragically taken for being nothing more than Americans and for being a part of the greatest and most free nation in the world. We were attacked by those who hate our way of life, who despise our freedom, and who revile our Republic, which despite the terrorists’ best efforts will forever remain one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

“We cannot mark this occasion without recognizing the sacrifice of those who responded to the murderous attacks with the courage and commitment to country that has kept us free, defending the homeland and taking the fight to the enemy, who remains a determined force against freedom.

“May God bless and keep safe our nation’s freedom fighters, may He continue to comfort and heal the victims of September 11, and may He grant wisdom to our nation’s leaders who have been charged with protecting our freedoms and preserving the rights that so many have died to defend and so many of our enemies wish to take away.”
